If the corona virus has taught us anything it's how reliant we've become on global supply chains and how fickle they are when even a bit of uncertainty appears.

Problem is that I see more and more people claiming that the answer to this is more automation and globalisation as if there's some technological solution or invention that will help these complex systems become more reliable. There isn't, and we should prioritise becoming less reliant on these systems so that the next global pandemic doesn't determine whether you'll be able to bake a cake or wipe your ass for a month.
